Welcome to Christian Montessori Academy

Christian Montessori Academy values the importance of family and community. As a family-owned, operated and attended school, we are committed to creating a safe and nurturing environment where children can thrive. Our Founder and Director Shany Palant was trained as an AMI Primary Guide and has worked in Montessori environments for nearly 20 years. Shany has worked as a guide, program director and assistant head of school as well as Spanish immersion guide.

With school curriculums and political agendas changing and shifting the main focus of education, Shany decided in order to better equip her family, and give other families an opportunity to learn in a safe environment she stepped out and began the process of opening her school. Shany has been married to her husband Matthew for 13 years and they have 4 beautiful children together. Matthew and Shany have done missions, lived abroad and started a primary school in Kenya. Shortly after their first child was born they moved from Mexico to Texas and have been a part of the local church serving in different capacities. All 4 of their children are currently enrolled in Christian Montessori Academy and we look forward to meeting your family and cultivating relationship and community which goes beyond just our school hours.

What we believe

At Christian Montessori Academy our dedicated team strives to create a safe and nurturing environment that empowers children to flourish and develop through the Montessori Method. We believe that each child is fearfully and wonderfully made and we desire to come alongside each child individually and help them discover their passion while pointing them toward growth and development. We believe that these early years are crucial in helping a child understand their identity as sons and daughters of God and how powerful they are and will empower them to grow in this.

Our mission

Our mission is to provide a Christ-centered and family focused community that educates and nurtures our children’s development through the Montessori Method, preparing each one to become a compassionate leader with Integrity who honors God, to empower children with the capacity to change the world.

Our programs

NIDO

Montessori schools offer several programs, including Nido, which is the earliest form of Montessori and is desgined for infants, Nido means “nest” in Italian, capturing the idea of warmth and security. The purpose of Nido in Montessori school settings is to create a calm, cozy, and home-like environment for the youngest students. (3 months-18 months).

TODDLER

Children ages 18 months – 3 years old make astonishing achievements in terms of communication, independence, physical movement, problem-solving ability, and social interactions. The Toddler program helps young children growth the gains they make during this crucial time.

CHILDREN’S HOUSE

Students direct their own activities, building knowledge, confidence and social skills along the way. Teachers empower children to use all the materials available to them, which range from practical life activities to geography to mathematics.

What is Montessori?

An education for independence, self-confidence, and lifelong flourishing.

“The goal of early childhood education should be to activiate the child’s own natural desire to learn”

-Maria Montessori-

Who was Maria Montessori?

Maria Montessori was an Italian doctor, educator, and philosopher who discovered a new method of education—one that doesn’t fight against the nature of children, but understands their needs, taps into their immense abilities, and empowers them to take charge of their life.

Montessori first gained fame when she taught 3 and 4-year-olds to read and write without painstaking drills or intensive instruction.

Over the course of her career, Montessori worked closely with children of all ages, carefully designed learning materials to support their growth while respecting their agency, and shared her landmark discoveries and innovations in her many books and lectures.

The Montessori approach

Within our Montessori program, we hold reverence for this transformative work, offering children an array of meaningful choices and tools that truly reflect their dedication. Our objective is to attentively observe each child, comprehending their individual needs, and create an environment that fosters increasing independence—empowering them to meet their own requirements, cultivate their personal values, and take charge of their own remarkable journey.

A carefully prepared environment

To foster the child’s burgeoning independence and self-confidence, the Montessori environment is designed to create an accessible world of order, beauty, and enriching values. This is a world where they can gradually learn to meet their own needs—to feed themselves, clean up after themselves, to trust themselves.

The Montessori environment features:

  • A simplified, beautiful space for children to explore
  • Child-sized furniture and tools
  • Logically organized materials on accessible shelves
  • Consistent routines and lessons in practical life skills and care of the class environment

Intentionally designed learning materials

To capitalize on the child’s longing to explore, learn, and perfect their abilities, a Montessori environment provides a sequence of captivating materials that systematically build on one another. These materials offer foundational learning experiences—in motor control, sensorial exploration, math, literacy, and so much more—and allow the child to joyously move from one achievement to the next.

Montessori learning materials:

  • Captivate the child’s interest, optimizing for sustained concentration
  • Isolate the difficulty of skills so the child can focus and master them one at a time
  • Offer sensorial feedback so the child can self-correct
  • Provide access to advanced curriculum years ahead of their peers in traditional schools

The freedom to follow their own path

To account for the unique abilities and interests of every child and to cultivate their sense of agency and love of learning, a Montessori environment gives children tremendous liberty to take charge of their education. Children are free to choose their own materials, to set them up on a table or work mat, and to practice with them for 5 minutes or 3 hours—for as much time as they need to achieve mastery.

Children in a Montessori classroom:

  • Move, explore, and collaborate freely with their classmates
  • Direct their own path to mastery by concentrating on materials of their choice
  • Refine their ability to exert effort, persist, and fix mistakes
  • Cultivate an earned sense of self-confidence in their ability to make decisions

What Our Families are Saying

Ms. Shany was my daughter’s lead guide in the Children’s House Spanish Immersion program and I could not have asked for a better teacher for my daughter. I was often in awe of her calm and compassionate command of the classroom and her ability to connect and communicate with children and parents and colleagues alike. The positive impact Shany had on my daughter’s social, emotional, and academic skill development became abundantly clear in Kindergarten where she has been recognized for her Spanish skills, reading ability, and generous character. Shany will always have a special place in our hearts.

-Claire’s Mom

Ms. Shany was my daughters favorite teacher in Montessori school. Ms. Shany truly let my child lead herself through the lessons and made her feel confident to make her own choices. Thanks to her, my daughter got off to a great start.

-Samantha’s Mom

We were blessed to have Mrs. Shany teach our daughter in Montessori school. Our daughter learned so much from her and Mrs. Shany’s caring and nurturing heart helped to know that when we were dropping our daughter off every day, not only was she going to learn but she would be greatly cared for.

-Sam’s Mom

Ms. Shany always wants the best for her students and their future, the way she loves them and her dedication to her students and everything she does has impacted each one of them.

-Sebastian’s Mom

We were privileged to have Ms. Shany teach our little one for 2 years. She has the kindest heart and watched over our daughter like she was her own. Ms. Shany is smart, kind and compassionate and we were so lucky to have her as our teacher . Our daughter is a better person because of Ms.Shany.

-Elizabeth’s Mom

We love having Ms. Shany as our son’s teacher. He learned so much from her and was always looking forward to going to school, we appreciate her communication and interest in him to grow and thrive.

-Jordan’s Mom

Ms. Shany was an incredibly patient and caring teacher who treated her students with kindness. From snack time to learning how to color, Ms. Shany’s teaching methods have stayed with me throughout my educational career. Virtues such as patience and compassion were one of the first lessons she has taught me, thus I am very grateful to call her my first teacher.”
